Iowa SQL Server User Group

Welcome to the Iowa SQL Server User Group (IASSUG)!

IASSUG is a Chapter/Local Group located in Des Moines, IA, in partnership with the Professional Association for SQL Server (PASS).  We hold monthly group meetings usually on the third Thursday of the calendar month.

Since 2014, we are proud to have helped I-380 PASS and QCPASS (Quad Cities) with annual event planning and on-site staff duties at SQLSaturday Iowa City.

Want to join our local group?  Please check out our Meetup.com group Des Moines SQL Users Group.  Meeting events will be posted on that site as well as here, with any changes or added details updated at the Meetup group.

Learn tips and tricks from the professionals.  No sales pitch, just a bunch of Data Huggers getting together to learn something new!

T-SQL Tips & Tricks to Make Your Life Easier

Speaker: Andy Yun, Senior Solutions Engineer SentryOne

Summary: Do you spend your days slinging T-SQL code? Want to improve your T-SQL game? If you answered yes, then this session is for you. This demo-intensive session will showcase a collection of my favorite beginner and intermediate level tips and tricks. We will explore how to identify and fix some common T-SQL anti-patterns, my favorite SSMS productivity tricks, and clever solutions to some common but not easily-coded challenges. This session targets both developers and DBAs; the only prerequisites are the desire to write better T-SQL code and aim of living an easier life!

About Andy: Andy Yun is a SentryOne Senior Solutions Engineer and a Microsoft MVP. He has been working with SQL Server for over 15 years as both a Database Developer and Administrator. Leveraging knowledge of SQL Server Internals and extensive experience in highly transactional environments, he strives to make T-SQL leaner and meaner. Andy is extremely passionate about passing knowledge onto others, regularly speaking at User Groups, SQL Saturdays, and PASS Summit. Andy is a co-founder of the Chicago SQL Association, co-Chapter Leader of the Chicago Suburban User Group, and part of the Chicago SQL Saturday Organizing Committee.
