Iowa SQL Server User Group

Welcome to the Iowa SQL Server User Group (IASSUG)!

IASSUG is a Chapter/Local Group located in Des Moines, IA, in partnership with the Professional Association for SQL Server (PASS).  We hold monthly group meetings usually on the third Thursday of the calendar month.

Since 2014, we are proud to have helped I-380 PASS and QCPASS (Quad Cities) with annual event planning and on-site staff duties at SQLSaturday Iowa City.

Functions Every SQL User Should Know

Speaker: Pete Halaczkiewicz, SQL DBA/Developer R&R Realty Group-West Des Moines, IA

Summary: We will cover real world uses for functions that can help you compile and analyze data. First, we will go over the CONCAT and STUFF functions. Knowing how to use these functions can really help you simplify your queries, making them easier to read and manage. Then we will cover uses for some Ranking Functions, specifically, examples of DENSE_RANK, NTILE, RANK, and ROW_NUMBER and how they can help you analyze your data.

About Pete: Pete has over 10 years of SQL experience, specializing in application support, reporting and data analysis. Pete’s current job role at R&R Realty Group includes maintaining the database environment, creating ETL processes, report development, optimization, and front end application support. He previously worked at DLL in Johnston as a Tier 3 production support analyst supporting SQL production environments globally including Dynamics. His role there included front end and database support, deployment, testing, and development as well as acting as team lead for an application support team in India. He has previously worked at Wells Fargo as an Analytics Consultant specializing in process improvement, data analysis, and reporting process development.
